Privacy

When you allow location access (in your browser or in the iOS app), coordinates are used to fetch the local forecast and are sent only to WeatherDog's own servers. The iOS app rounds coordinates before any request leaves the device.

Every upstream weather source (Open-Meteo, the National Weather Service, RainViewer, and others) is reached through a server-side proxy — your IP address and location are never sent to a third-party weather service. Requests pass through server logs which are rotated on a short schedule; coordinates are not stored otherwise unless you save a favorite while signed in.

Sign-in is by email magic link — there is no password. If you choose to sign in, we store:

• your email address (to send the sign-in link, and digests or alert emails if you turn those on),
• your saved favorites (place names and coordinates) and preferences, so they sync across devices.

A session cookie (weatherdog_session) keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. That's the only cookie WeatherDog sets. No analytics, no ad or tracking cookies, no third-party scripts.

While signed in you can export everything we hold about you (Account → Data & privacy → Export, on the web or in the app) as a JSON file, and you can delete your account in the same place. Deletion is immediate and permanent: the account row and everything attached to it are hard-deleted from the database.

The app talks only to weatherdog.net. It contacts no third-party host, embeds no analytics or advertising SDK, and does no tracking (its Apple privacy manifest declares none). Favorites saved while signed out stay on the device. Widget data is shared only between the app and its own widgets on your device.
